Directors Commentary
I
am Luke Curry-Glasper and I am the director of the film “Battles Combined “. During my film I had to
make different decisions as to how I was going to structure the film out. Many
of these decisions were made due to the editing side of the process.
The
film starts off where you hear the Therapist saying a case study. Which follows:
Case study 001 the date is 12th April, the time is 12:46pm and I am
here with Mr. Daniels.” This is too get the idea across to the reader that the
victim is at a therapy. Which will want to make the audience want to watch more
and see what happens.
The
film was based three years after the accident happened there are different
reasons for this. One of these reasons are I thought it would be more
attractive as the audience would see what the after effects are of Mr. Daniels.
And the other reason for this is that if it is in a different time frame it
connotes that the audience will want to know what happens next. Also not many
people will be think of a starting with a case study of the victim.
In
the first scene the audience is provided with a person on a blank screen
talking about a case study. Which stuns the audience again as it makes them
want to know what the case study is about and what it consists of. Then as the two people are talking to each
other the shot on the screen starts to move along the shot pretty much match
the convocation. The film is based on a true event. This event was a traumatic
nose break that could have ended this specific humans career.
In
the Tascam audio the character Mr. Daniels played by Lewis Morris is creating a
sympathetic and emotional feel to the movie. The aim of his character is to
create an atmosphere of sorrow and sympathy. He describes what the atmosphere
was like during the day and what it was like on the short and long-term run of
this traumatic event.
Overall
I feel as though the film was a great success. This is because I believe all
the filming and acting in the film was highly performed to a high standard. I
am confident that in future references I am able to make better films.
